Wedding President Lorna, Secretary Ann called and Avril Thompson, ex-executive member, called at the home of Nora Lennon, our present Quoile Area executive member and faithful Crossgar WI member, to congratulate Nora and Cecil on reaching their Golden Wedding Anniversary on Thursday 1st September 2011. Nora and Cecil married on that date in 1961 in Killinchy Presbyterian Church with their reception in a local hall. We enjoyed seeing their wedding album and hearing them talk about their day – it certainly didn’t seem like 50 years ago!! We enjoyed their hospitality and Nora’s homemade tray bakes and coffee went down a treat. Congratulations from everyone in Crossgar WI. |

WI Strikes Gold Again!! Crossgar WI started the new season in great form when they came first overall in the City Parks Autumn Fair held in Botanic Park on the 18th and 19th September 2010. This is an annual competition, open to all WI's throughout Northern Ireland and there were over twenty entries. Rhona Niblock's flower arrangement received a first, Mary McMurray's quilted rug a fourth, Crossgar WI was first for presentation as well as being first overall. Well done to all those ladies involved - Irene Deboys made the canework basket, Heather Lennon provided the meatloaf and Ethna Douglas baked the boiled cake. |
